The Fourth of July is next Wednesday. But many of the large and free Eastside firework shows (and we are not talking about the illegal displays down your block) will be held a few days early this weekend.

The celebrations in Eagle Rock, El Sereno and Lincoln Heights also feature live music as well as pyrotechnics while the holiday event in East L.A. also includes art displays and food.  If you want to hold off and watch a show on Independence Day itself, you will have to head to Dodger Stadium for a post-game show.

Advice To Pet Owners: You probably know by now to keep your dogs inside during all that noise. The Friends of the North Central Animal Shelter in Lincoln Heights, which serves the Eastside, is seeking volunteers to temporarily foster pets during a busy time of the year.
